Thanks for sharing your thoughts! It was trying for ambiguity, but with some admiration. I loved it, which surprised me because the whole Tudor experience leaves me cold a Renaissance Festival too many in the formative years? Gympie kitchens rule at Gympie Show 16th May 8: Vicki McGee left received a first for her tiered wedding cake and Fay Andrews won the top prize in the contemporary modern cake section as well as Champion Cake of Show with her stunning creation. That certainly seems to be the case in the Gympie region, with the number of decorated cakes this year almost double that of last year and plenty of young women, children and even men vying for honours. Chief steward for the past 13 years, Anne Long, said yesterday she was delighted with the quantity, quality and presentation of entries in this year’s Cookery exhibit.
Decorated cakes drew record numbers from adults and children, with a total 70 entries. Talented long-time decorator Fay Andrews took out the Champion Cake award, but Tina Long won first prize in the popular Novelty section with her Sylvester the Cat, followed by Sherylea Jorgensen in second with her gold edible lace creation, and Dorita Booth with Minion. Mrs Long played down the ominous sign of the times in the absence of any plum puddings this year, saying she had no doubt interest in that traditional section would regenerate in Fruit cakes, on the other hand, were strongly represented, with Sandra Wyatt’s rich fruit cake judged Champion.
Ms Wyatt can now enter her cake in the sub-chamber cookery contest at Woodford later this year and, if it wins first there, the Brisbane Exhibition. Coming up through the ranks was prolific young cook Emily Williams, who put in more entries than anyone else in the children’s section and scored the most points.

His father, Alexander Wells, was a pensioner guard employed to watch over the convicts on board ship. These guards tended to be recruited from the rural working class, and offered farmland in Australia as an inducement. The Clara arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia on July 3 with its one very small extra passenger.

Everything has to be done perfectly. Benn tells me he can cope with all that. For him, the challenge is dealing with the increasing number of diners who, besides eating his food, want to talk to him about it.
